The Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor with civil infrastructure construction experience, to join the team on the Central Interceptor Project - New Zealand's largest tunnelling project.
What will you be getting involved in?
- Provide health, safety and wellbeing support and guidance to the construction teams
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of construction execution plans
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of commissioning plans
- Investigation reports, risk control and assessment documentation, permits and safe work method statements
- Ensure Health and Safety equipment is regularly maintained and kept in safe working order
- Drive continuous improvement in health, safety and wellbeing performance
- Update the Health and Safety incident reporting databases
- Carry out regular safety inspections and audits on-site with the construction teams
- Keep staff safe by ensuring all health, safety and wellbeing policies and procedures are adhered to
- Be a champion for positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across the project
- Support in the emergency management process
- Support in the incident management process and be involved in the return to work process for injured workers

You will have
- Minimum Minimum 10 years' experience in Health & Safety or a similar role in the construction industry within a project
- Strong knowledge of plant and equipment capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in at least one large project NZD 500m>
- 5-year experience in projects involving pre-commissioning, Commissioning and operational handover stage
- NEBOSH International Diploma in H&S accreditation required
- Graduate Member of IOSH
- Lead Auditor 45001
- Knowledge of New Zealand H&S Legislation
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- A positive and proactive approach toward teamwork
- Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence or equivalent as you will travel between sites

Minimum 40 hours, maximum of 60 hours between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Saturday until such time as required to work on a rostered shift pattern, in line with the programme demands of the project.
