The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Collection Services is seeking a candidate to assist the Third-Party Liability (TPL) Provider Recovery Unit with various complex tasks pertaining to Third Party Liability health insurance recovery and eligibility. Duties include answering incoming calls and conducting research to determine Medicaid and Medicare benefits. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, display motivation and initiative, and exhibit the ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on tasks to ensure such are completed accurately and timely.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Medicare Recovery Specialist for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Collection Services, Third-Party Liability (TPL) Section
  • Organizes and handles special projects relating to statistical research, monthly recoupment logs, and insurance carrier audits
  • Receives, reviews, sorts, and compiles information, reports, and adjustments
  • Receives, reviews, sorts, and processes TPL claim adjustments
  • Responds to Medicare billing/claim inquiries pertaining to federal and state and regulations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college and one year of office experience, or completion of high school and three years of office experience, or three years of independent business experience.

Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
