The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, new resettlement Prison. After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community.


G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.


We now have an exciting opportunity for an Part Time Administrator to join our team within the Offender Mangement Unit (OMU) at HMP Five Wells.


You will need to be a positive team player with excellent communication, IT and organisational skills. You will need the ability to work on your own initiative, and within a successful team.


Some of the Key Responsibilities for this role are:

  • Provide full administrative support for Offender Management (OM), including dealing with records and supporting the OM process, and dealing with the coordination of paperwork to support both prisoners Reception and Discharge from custody. Ensuring that the relevant policies, procedures and administration processes are followed.
  • Maintain effective work systems and take minutes at meetings/boards as required, ensuring that all correspondence and documentation are dealt with in a professional & timely manner ensuring audit standards and appropriate targets are met.
  • Following successful completion of role specific training one of the Key roles will be sentence calculations and checks adhering to current legislation.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as the Parole Board, Social Services, Home Office, Police, probation and the Courts. Representing both G4S and HMP Five wells, in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Deal with all routine queries and liaise with other departments to ensure relevant processes are followed and appropriate responses are provided.
  • Maintain an accurate current computer based information system of offender records to ensure information is available to relevant staff and agencies.
  • Public protection - monitoring prisoner mail & Phone calls.
  • Previous experience in similar fields would be desirable and experience of IT systems, However full training is given and we are keen to ensure all staff are given the opportunity to progress and do their role well.
